AFO Completes 737 Heavy Maintenance Check

Saturday, 31 January 2009

Airwork Flight Operations has completed its C heavy maintenance check on ZK-NQC, a Boeing 737-200, with no defects being recorded in the log book. The defect free result is a credit to the professionalism and expertise of the Airwork engineers who worked for weeks to complete the project.

"This project was an epic challenge," explains Bill Dyet, Aircraft Maintenance Manager. "It is an ideal illustration of our company’s fixed wing engineering and heavy maintenance and support capability."

The project took over 40,000 hours to complete, owing to the discovery of major defects and structural repair requirements, making it similar to a 747D check in terms of scope, as opposed to the originally anticipated 21,000 hours.

The 737-200 is now operating, sporting a distinctive yellow livery, servicing freight delivery schedules as well as passenger and freight charters.
